LPGA Tour – MAYBANK CHAMPIONSHIP

Title defender: Ruoning Yin.
Race Leader to the CME Globe: Jeeno Thitikul.

Last week, Australia was crowned champion at the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown. This event features 22 of the 32 players who participated in the International Crown, including the entire Thai team. Lauren Coughlin is the only player from the U.S. team who will not be competing in Malaysia.

This tournament is the third of five stops on the Asian fall swing, with only Japan remaining next week. It is the third edition of the tournament in Malaysia, with previous winners including Ruoning Yin and Celine Boutier.

Jeeno Thitikul is the only player with multiple LPGA victories this year. Yani Tseng of Taiwan will not compete, although she won last week on the Ladies European Tour in Taiwan, marking her first win in more than 11 years.

The LPGA held tournaments in Malaysia between 2010 and 2017. Of the eight tournaments held in Asia this year, the Maybank Championship has the largest prize purse. Australia now boasts two major champions in 2023: Minjee Lee and Grace Kim, in addition to the International Crown title.

Next week

The next event will be the Toto Japan Classic.
